Where we find the iconic Chanel tweed at the 2023 Met Gala
"I love to be creative all the time ... If not I would be bored and boredom is a crime." - Karl Lagerfeld
Met Gala, New York, May 1 2023.
This year, the theme of the most desired event by the designers was "In honor of Karl", commemorating style icon, Karl Lagerfeld, collaborator and designer of several of the most known fashion labels.
His death in 2019 left a void not only in the fashion world, but particularly in Chanel, a brand for which he held the role of creative director for several years.
And it is precisely due to the link between Lagerfeld and the Parisian Maison that we see many celebrities wearing tweed suits on the carpet at the Met.
Tweed originated as a shetland wool fabric, which Mademoiselle Coco took from men's fashion, and made it an essential element of her artistic identity. Since then, the creation of any garment with the Chanel weave has been a symbol of elegance and timeless style.
So, let's now see how some celebrities have reinterpreted tweed in the 75th edition of the Met Gala.
Amongst the most important guests on the carpet of the Metropolitan Museum of Art, we see Dua Lipa, named the co-chair for the opening of the exhibition Karl Lagerfeld: A Line of Beauty.
A ravishing ball gown in tweed, directly from the Chanel ‘92-’93 archives, was paired alongside a Tiffany & Co. necklace with a diamond over 200 carats.
And it is known that every year following the Met Gala, some of the most beloved looks by the public consequently become the trend of the moment, that accompany stylists and fashion lovers until the following year.
